Little Scotties Scoop
December 9, 2011
What a busy week! We have worked on colors and counting with our ice fishing game from Deck the Halls last Saturday. We used bean counters to measure things in our classroom. We have continued to work on our writing with several activities. We read The Gingerbread Man and The Gingerbread Cowboy and
compared and contrasted the characters. We also voted on which version was our favorite and drew our favorite character. The highlight of the week was yesterday.....we baked cookies. We rolled out pre-made dough and used cookie cutters to cut our sugar cookies. After they baked and cooled, we used icing,
sprinkles, and M&Ms to decorate our cookies. On Monday, for snack, we cut vegetables and fruits to make a salad. Almost everyone ate the salad!
Please make sure to put your child’s name in his/her coat!
All children dropped off at school in the morning MUST be walked in and left with a member of the school staff in the cafeteria. We have had several children dropped off out front to come in alone lately. This is NOT safe. Please make sure whomever is bringing your child to school knows to walk them in.
Ms. Flowers has asked all teachers to remind parents that we are not supposed to distribute invitations for private birthday parties at school. I have done this in the past but will no longer be allowed to do so.
Our classroom is in need of girl bandaids!
We will be visiting Barren County Health Care on Friday, December 16, to sing Christmas carols for the residents. We would like to take some items that the residents need. Things like socks, baby powder, body wash, kleenex, lotion, etc, that you can find at Dollar Tree. Please send in any items that we could take with us to give out. We will also be making them cards and ornaments.
All students need to have an eye exam on file by January 1. This is a state LAW. If your child has already had one, make sure we have the form on file. If you have not had this done yet, please schedule an appointment. It must be with an optometrist or opthalmalogist.
If you need you contact me, please email me at genelle.jones@glasgow.kyschools.us or call me at school, 659-0432 between 1:00 and 2:00 or after 3:00. If you call at any other times during the school day, please leave a message with the school staff. Speaking to parents is always a priority, however my time when the children are at school is devoted to meeting their needs in the classroom. I will return your calls as soon as
possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
