Little Scotties Scoop
November 18, 2011
We are continuing to observe our magic beans and how they are changing in our bags in the window. We have talked more about plants (what they need, what they have, and what they give) and have started listing fruits and vegetables that we know. We looked at pictures of different plants and used materials like straws, cups, and toilet paper tubes to make plant sculptures.
We sorted and graphed our candy wrappers that everyone brought in. We practiced counting and which had the most and least in each graph.
We have a few students who have played the Angry Birds Game on their parents phone or ipod/ipad. As a result we are setting up our block center to be like the pigs houses in the game and are experimenting with different ways to catapult objects to knock down the houses. We also got on Ms. Jennifer’s phone and my ipod to play Angry Birds. We will be continuing our experiments with this science concept.
Thanks to everyone who came to eat with us yesterday. It went very smoothly and the food was delicious. We had several families to attend Family Literacy Night and are very proud of Brianna (broccoli) who won a turkey.
All students need to have an eye exam on file by January 1. This is a state LAW. If your child has already had one, make sure we have the form on file. If you have not had this done yet, please schedule an appointment. It must be with an optometrist or opthamalogist.
We will be visiting the Southgate Plaza Houchens on Tuesday, November 22, at around 9:15. Anyone wishing to meet us there needs to let Ms. Genelle know.
If you need you contact me, please email me at genelle.jones@glasgow.kyschools.us or call me at school, 659-0432 between 1:00 and 2:00 or after 3:00. If you call at any other times during the school day, please leave a message with the school staff. Speaking to parents is always a priority, however my time when the children are at school is devoted to meeting their needs in the classroom. I will return your calls as soon as
possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
