Little Scotties Scoop

February 18, 2011

What a busy week it has been. Thanks to everyone who sent goodies for our party and to those who were able to come by and help out. The kids had a great time. On Tuesday, we did a sorting activity with the Valentine's that the kids gave to me. We talked about ways that the Valentines were different and sorted them by cards that open/close and cards that did not open/close. We finished our Valentine activities by sorting candy hearts and making Valentine cards. We looked at a wordless book, Changes, Changes, about different things the characters built with colored blocks. We used those same blocks to see what we could build and we are making a class book about what we can make with our blocks. Thursday we had our
fieldtrip to Houchens grocery. Each child purchased a canned vegetable that we used to make vegetable soup. We ate our vegetable soup along with our sandwiches for lunch.

We will be having school on Monday to make up a snow day.

If you have not had a conference with me to review your child's progress to date, I will be contacting you to set up a time to meet with you.

After school care will be in Ms. Genelle's classroom next week.

Keep practicing the popcorn letters or words with your child. Everything you need is in your child's Bee Book.

We still need more of the Clorox or Lysol disinfectant wipes. We use tons of these with the computer and language master.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Our class blog address is http://msgenellesamclass.blogspot.com/. Please check it out!

On Fridays we will be sending nap blankets, etc., home so you can wash them and send them back each Monday. We are going to try keeping the water bottles at school during the week and send them home on Fridays as well.

If you need to contact me, please email me at genelle.jones@glasgow.kyschools.us or call me at school at 659-0432 after 1:00. If you call at any other times during the school day, please leave a message with the office staff. Speaking to parents is always a priority, however my time when the children are at school is devoted to meeting their needs in the classroom. I will return your calls as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
