Little Scotties Scoop
February 25, 2011
This week we have continued our dinosaur research. We are working on a list of dinosaurs that are meat-eaters and a list of plant-eaters. We learned that a T-Rex could be 30 feet from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. We made a paper chain to measure out 30 feet. We watched several dinosaur videos from the discovery channel website. We have looked at nonfiction books about dinosaurs and have documented what dinosaurs looked like. We've all read Pancakes for Breakfast and have written and illustrated our own group books about Pancakes for Breakfast. Today we cooked pancakes and we shook (until we thought our arms would fall off) whipping cream to make butter for our pancakes. We also worked on a class book, Changes, Changes, illustrations made with paper blocks. We practiced writing by making grocery lists. Wednesday we watched the Beta students perform the group talent act that they were doing in the group talent competition at Beta convention this week. They sang and danced to 3 songs
from the movie Aladdin. We watched Aladdin yesterday to see where they got the ideas for their performance.
After school care will be in Ms. Kim's classroom next week.
Keep practicing the popcorn letters or words with your child. Everything you need is in your child's Bee Book.
Thanks to those of you who sent in the disinfectant wipes. I really appreciate it.
Our class blog address is http://msgenellesamclass.blogspot.com/. Please check it out!
On Fridays we will be sending nap blankets, etc., home so you can wash them and send them back each Monday. We are going to try keeping the water bottles at school during the week and send them home on Fridays as well.
If you need to contact me, please email me at genelle.jones@glasgow.kyschools.us or call me at school at 659-0432 after 1:00. If you call at any other times during the school day, please leave a message with the office staff. Speaking to parents is always a priority, however my time when the children are at school is devoted to meeting their needs in the classroom. I will return your calls as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
