Little Scotties Scoop

March 11, 2011

We are almost finished reading The Jolly Postman. This week's stories in it were Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, and Red Riding Hood. We have had lots of fun reading fairy tales. Several of the girls have been making magic wands in the art center. One thing that the 'jolly postman' delivered was a postcard. We made postcards for our friends in Ms. Jenniffer's classroom and delivered them. We have put a mailbox outside our classroom door so our friends may leave us mail. Some students have been working on the initial letters/sounds in words. We have talked about the parts of a book and looked at illustrations.

This Saturday from 8-12 our school will be hosting Preschool/Kindergarten registration for the 2011-2012 school year. If your child will be returning to preschool next year, you do NOT have to do anything and you do NOT need to come in on Saturday. If you are enrolling a new child for preschool, you do need to come in. If your child is going to kindergarten next year, you need to come in. Two Kindergarten classrooms will be open for you to look at and all the kindergarten teachers will be here for you and your child to meet.

Have your child wear green on Thursday for St. Patrick's Day!

After school care will be in Ms. Jenniffer's classroom next week.

Keep practicing the popcorn letters or words with your child. Everything you need is in your child's Bee Book. Several children have added new letters or words to their lists!

We are in need of band aids that girls would like. Any donations would be appreciated.

Friday, March 18, will be ice cream Friday. Please send $.50 in your child's Bee Book! I'll send a reminder for you closer to time.

Our class blog address is http://msgenellesamclass.blogspot.com/. Please check it out!

On Fridays we will be sending nap blankets, etc., home so you can wash them and send them back each Monday. We are going to try keeping the water bottles at school during the week and send them home on Fridays as well.

If you need to contact me, please email me at genelle.jones@glasgow.kyschools.us or call me at school at 659-0432 after 1:00. If you call at any other times during the school day, please leave a message with the office staff. Speaking to parents is always a priority, however my time when the children are at school is devoted to meeting their needs in the classroom. I will return your calls as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
