Little Scotties Scoop
March 4, 2011
I can't believe it's March already! This school year is flying by! This week some students worked on simple addition with dessert manipulatives. Some students opened 'dinosaur' eggs and worked on naming the letters inside. Everyone made either a dinosaur or dinosaur footprints with Model Magic. Some
students are making informational books describing dinosaurs.
Wednesday was Dr. Seuss' birthday. His books are a great way to keep working on rhyming. Mr. Harper dressed as the Cat in the Hat and read The Cat in the Hat to our class. We watched the movie Green Eggs and Ham and then we cooked green eggs and ham for our lunch!
Don't forget that spring pictures are on Thursday, March 10. DON'T wear green!
After school care will be in Ms. Genelle's classroom next week.
Keep practicing the popcorn letters or words with your child. Everything you need is in your child's Bee Book.
We are in need of band aids that girls would like. Any donations would be appreciated.
Next Thursday, March 10, our school is hosting Mystery Literacy Night. Free food and drinks will be served. This will be our parent meeting for March.
Friday, March 18, will be ice cream Friday. Please send $.50 in your child's Bee Book! I'll send a reminder for you closer to time.
Our class blog address is http://msgenellesamclass.blogspot.com/. Please check it out!
On Fridays we will be sending nap blankets, etc., home so you can wash them and send them back each Monday. We are going to try keeping the water bottles at school during the week and send them home on Fridays as well.
If you need to contact me, please email me at genelle.jones@glasgow.kyschools.us or call me at school at 659-0432 after 1:00. If you call at any other times during the school day, please leave a message with the office staff. Speaking to parents is always a priority, however my time when the children are at school is devoted to meeting their needs in the classroom. I will return your calls as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
